چکیده

Avian influenza virus (AIV) poses a significant challenge to poultry production, with negative repercussions for both the economy and public health worldwide. Since January 2003, total of 868 human cases AIV H5N1 have been reported from four countries in Western Pacific Region, as 9 March 2023. When AIVs are circulating poultry, there is risk sporadic infections small clusters due exposure infected or contaminated environments. The increase A(H5N1) may reflect continued circulation birds, well enhanced surveillance diagnostic capacity resulting response COVID-19 pandemic. Numerous countermeasures, including vaccines antiviral treatments, available infection. However, their effectiveness often debated ongoing resistance antivirals relatively low unpredictable efficiency compared other vaccines. Vaccination remains primary method preventing acquisition avoiding serious complications related disease. In this review, we summarize global landscape Influenza A provide insights into clinical symptomatology. We call urgent investment genomic strategies timely detect shape emergence any potential viral pathogen, which essential epidemic/pandemic preparedness.

Avian influenza virus (H5N1): a threat to human health.

Pandemic influenza virus has its origins in avian influenza viruses. The highly pathogenic avian influenza virus subtype H5N1 is already panzootic in poultry, with attendant economic consequences. It continues to cross species barriers to infect humans and other mammals, often with fatal outcomes. Therefore, H5N1 virus has rightly received attention as a potential pandemic threat. However, it i...

Avian Influenza A(H5N1) Virus in Egypt.

In Egypt, avian influenza A subtype H5N1 and H9N2 viruses are enzootic in poultry. The control plan devised by veterinary authorities in Egypt to prevent infections in poultry focused mainly on vaccination and ultimately failed. Recently, widespread H5N1 infections in poultry and a substantial increase in the number of human cases of H5N1 infection were observed. We summarize surveillance data ...

H5N1 avian influenza virus: an overview.

Avian influenza virus (H5N1) emerged in Hong Kong in 1997, causing severe human disease. In recent years, several outbreaks have been reported in different parts of Asia, Europe and Africa, raising concerns of dissemination of a new and highly lethal influenza pandemic. Although H5N1 has not been capable of sustaining human-to-human transmission, the ability of the virus to undergo variation du...

Avian influenza A (H5N1).

Since their reemergence in 2003, highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1) viruses have reached endemic levels among poultry in several southeast Asian countries and have caused a still increasing number of more than 100 reported human infections with high mortality. These developments have ignited global fears of an imminent influenza pandemic. The current knowledge of the virology, clinical ...
